What are the next steps for my student after they have been accepted?

    1. After acceptance to the dual credit program, students must clear several holds before they can register for classes.
    2. For a full list of the next steps, visit here:  https://msutexas.edu/admissions/dual-credit/next-steps.php

What is the registration process for my student?

After your students have cleared all of their holds, they are ready to be registered for class!  We do not allow dual credit students to register themselves for classes.  Instead, you will need to contact the dual credit coordinator and let them know which classes your students will need to take.  The dual credit coordinator will verify:
  1. That the student has cleared all of their holds
  2. That the student has met the prerequisites for the requested class
  3. The class is being offered in the coming semester
  4. The class has an open seat for the dual credit student
Once all of this has been verified, the dual credit coordinator will register the student for the class, and will send class information to the student.

How can I track the academic performance of my student in dual classes?

  1. The Dual Credit coordinator and the high school Counselor will work closely with one another to make sure that students are keeping up with the class.  Midwestern State University uses a system called Navigate to check on your student’s performance each week.  Using an alert system in Navigate, professors indicate how students are performing in the class and they issue alerts if the student is falling behind for whatever reason.  The Dual Credit coordinator will check these Navigate reports on a weekly basis and will forward you the alerts if any of your students are falling behind.  We do encourage all counselors to regularly check in with their students to see how they feel they are doing.
  2. The Dual Credit coordinator will clearly communicate deadlines and important dates such as the “last day to drop” and midterm grades.  If needed, the high school counselor and the Dual Credit Coordinator will work together to withdraw students who cannot complete the course successfully.

Our Independent School District (ISD) pays for part of each students' tuition. How will we be billed?

    1. Please communicate this information, including how much your ISD is paying per class, to the Dual Credit Coordinator and the Business Office at MSU.
    2. If your ISD is paying a percentage of the tuition, the business office will adjust student bills accordingly and will direct bill both the student and the ISD.
    3. If your ISD is paying 100% of student tuition, the business office will directly bill your school and will send an invoice for the full amount.
    4. For further questions related to billing, please email dual.credit@msutexas.edu

How will my student be billed?

    1. Dual Credit bills will be adjusted after the student has registered for classes.
    2. Students will have an online statement that they can access in their Portal account
    3. Students can pay their bill or set up payment plans online
    4. Students can pay with cash or check at our Business office, located in Hardin South.
For more information on how to access and pay your bill, visit here:  https://msutexas.edu/busoffice/onlinepayments.php

How can my student drop a class?

    1. The student or counselor must email the Dual Credit Coordinator with the following information:  Student’s name, student’s M#, which class they are wanting to drop, the last day they attended that class, and why they are wanting to drop the course.
    2. The Dual Credit Coordinator will verify the information, clear any holds, drop the student from the class, and send confirmation to both the student and the counselor.

How can my students access academic support services?

How can my student troubleshoot technology issues?

    1. If students cannot access their Portal account, please have them email helpdesk@msutexas.edu.  Students need to include their M# on that email.
    2. If students are having issues connecting through High School issued computers, we first suggest troubleshooting the problem with the high school IT department.  Often school-issued Chrome Books can have issues connecting with online quizzes and tests and in our D2L platform.  Many of those issues can be solved by talking with the HS IT department, as they can provide solutions for lock down browser issues.
