Our Grenada program offers a great chance to earn three credits during the May-Mini term. This seventeen-day program is held on the campus of St. George’s University Medical School on the beautiful island of Grenada. We have a couple of different course offerings available in this program, and encourage you to consider joining us.

First, if you are a health science major, a pre-med major, or just someone looking for an opportunity to fulfill the Cultural and Global Understanding aspect of your core curriculum, we invite you to take our Global Health and Wellness (HSHS 1013) course. This course is designed and taught by MSU Texas Faculty members and looks at all aspects of health, especially health issues that are common across our globe. This course will also include guest lectures from the medical school faculty, and will include relevant site visits across the island. This course is open to any major, but is especially popular with our pre-med, pre-vet, dental hygiene, radiologic science, nursing, and all related health sciences degrees. With this being a core level course, students across all classifications participate, and no advanced knowledge of medical or health studies is needed.

If you are a History major and minor, we also have a course available for you via a course focusing on the History of the Caribbean. Undergrad students will be enrolled in HIST 4203, and graduate students will be enrolled in HIST 5203. In this unique environment, we will study and understand how the Caribbean and West Indies became the center of a globalizing world, with particular attention being paid to the history of the region from the 14th until the 20th century. Site visits will include many of the historical estates, visits to important archives and museums, and invited guest lecturers.

This unique program will let you experience life in the Caribbean while living on the campus of a beautiful medical school. There is also plenty of personal time for exploration and we will include a weekend catamaran tour with lunch on a private island as part of our program.

We hope you will join us in May!
