Dr. Jennifer Amox | Department of Music Chair
Dr. Jennifer Amox is the Department Chair and Associate Professor of Music at Midwestern State University. She is a flutist who teaches courses in music theory.

Ross Cleveland | Music Secretary and Adjunct Professor of Composition
Mr. Cleveland is the Department of Music’s Secretary. He manages the office, maintains the department’s instrument inventory, oversees student workers, and helps maintain the performance spaces.
Mr. Cleveland is an alumnus of the MSU Department of Music, where he earned his Degree in
Vocal Performance in 2013 and went on to get his Master’s Degree in Composition at Stephen F. Austin State University in 2015.
Mr. Cleveland also acts as the Adjunct Professor of Composition and offers composition lessons to Music Students who have completed their music theory courses.
Sandra Cunningham
Sandra Cunningham is on the faculty of the Department of Music as a
collaborative pianist. She, along with the other collaborative pianists, performs with students during Student Recital and Degree Recitals.

Dr. Rafael Powell II | Instructor of Single Reeds
Dr. Rafael Powell II is a freelance woodwind teacher, clinician, and performer based in Dallas-Fort Worth; he joined the Midwestern State University faculty as Visiting Instructor of Single Reeds in 2023, where he teaches applied saxophone, clarinet, woodwind methods, and improvisation. Powell his holds D.M.A. degree in saxophone performance from Texas Tech University, 2025.

Dr. Sungsoo Cho is on the faculty of the Department of Music as a collaborative pianist and instructor of piano/music. He, along with the other collaborative pianists, performs with students during Student Recital and Degree Recitals. Dr. Cho also plays for Midwestern Singers and Oratorio Chorus.

Dr. Ruth Morrow | Professor Emeritus 1989 - 2025
Dr. Ruth Morrow taught at MSU from 1989 until retiring in 2025. In this role, she led instruction of keyboard instruments within the Department of Music and courses in Music History. An active performer, Dr. Morrow was the recipient of the Carnes Fellow in 2020. She served on the MSU Board of Regents and the boards of the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra as well as the Wichita Falls Museum of Art.
Dr. Susan Harvey
Dr. Susan Harvey is an Associate Professor of Music. She leads instruction of the Music Education curriculum and teaches courses in Sight-singing & Ear Training, Foundations of Music, and Elementary Music.
