Preparing for the UGRCA Forum

The following resources provide useful advice and guidelines in preparing your research and creative projects for the UGRCA Forum.

Types of Presentations

There are five different presentation formats. All of the presentation categories, except for the Emerging Research Poster, are evaluated using the UGRCAF Rubric, and top performers from each College are awarded. Emerging Research Posters are not eligible for awards and are evaluated using the Emerging Research Rubric.

This is an overview of the five types of presentations. For more presentation-type details, view or download the UGRCA Forum Types of Presentations document

  • Oral Presentations (Podium) are 15-minute oral presentations with an additional 5 minutes for Q&A.
  • Poster Presentations are one-hour sessions where presenters stand by a poster display and talk to people to share details of their work as they walk by and view posters.
  • Creative Activity Presentations can be presented as either an oral presentation or a poster session in the form of an exhibit, performance, artistic demonstration, interactive session, film, etc.
  • Paper Presentations are for papers that are orally presented to an audience in a 15-minute session with an additional 5 minutes for Q&A. Presenters are required to submit the final paper for review at least one week before the event for review by an evaluator.
  • Emerging Research Poster Presentations are for research or creative projects that are in the early phases of development. These are one-hour sessions where presenters stand by a poster display and talk to people to share details of their work as they walk by and view posters. Presenters will also receive feedback and interaction from evaluators.
